web portal is aimed at:
- bringing women’s organisations to the shared communication platform, including business communities, non-governmental & non-commercial organisations, and women-oriented organisations;
- promoting society, business and creative activities and encouraging their appreciation and support by community members;
- attracting mass media and social interest in the activities of women’s organisations
- encouraging mass media to develop a positive image of women thus contributing to a positive outlook on our country from the foreign world.
The site contains:
- a roster of women’s organisations participating;
- an information agency;
- a universal interactive event schedule;
- a feedback page of questions and answers ;
- educational events;
- polls and surveys.
On February 15, the Best Social Project of the Year competition’s awarding ceremony took place within the framework of the Russian Investment Forum in Sochi. Home Near Park by Natalia Peryazeva became the best project created by a woman. The Best Social Project of the Year nomination had been established by the Federation Council to promote women’s entrepreneurship.
The first All-Russian Forum Mentor has been held in Moscow on February 13-15. It combined thousands of mentors and representatives of HR-departments of biggest state and business corporations, federal and regional authorities, and employees from NCOs and educational establishments. Veronika Skvortsova, Russian Minister of Health, told about role of mentorship in the sphere of Medicine.
5 million Russian children live in large families. Overall, there are 1.5 million of such families in our country. 78% of them have 3 children, all the other ones – more than 3. Large families get various benefits, which mostly depend on regional legislation. Thus, families from different regions acquire various support measures. Valentina Matvienko, Chairperson of the Federation Council, requested to create a Working Group, which will study regional experience, analyse regulatory framework, and prepare suggestions for improvement of legislation. Galina Karelova, Deputy Chairperson of the Federation Council, will lead the Working Group.
On February 13, the 2018 Mentor All-Russian Forum organised by the Agency for Strategic Initiatives was opened. Several thousand mentors and representatives of HR departments of the largest governmental and business corporations, federal and regional authorities, and employees of non-profit organizations and educational institutions joined the event as its participants. The speakers shared their understanding of the word ‘mentor’ and talked about the role of mentoring in today’s world at the plenary session.
Skolkovo Innovation Centre hosted the international conference Intellectual Property in the New Technological Order. One of its participants, Mrs. El Ouardi Dounia, Director of the Moroccan Industrial and Commercial Property Office, told the EWC journalists about the role of intellectual property (IP) in the modern world and the responsibility of media for forming the society’s legal literacy. They also discussed whether Morocco had gender-based discrimination.

Journalists of the Eurasian Women’s Community interviewed the scientists and experts from different countries within the framework of the international conference Intellectual Property in the new Technological Order. During our visit to MSU, Department of Labour and Personnel Economics, we discussed a relevant topic, gender-based discrimination in accessing jobs, with researchers. Anna Alyoshina, one of the best young teachers of the faculty, shared the results of her research with the EWC journalists.
Valentina Matvienko, Chairperson of the Federation Council, proposed that 2019 be designated the Year of Rural Areas in Russia. Nadezhda Boltenko, Chairperson of Women’s Union of the Novosibirsk Region, supported her initiative.
