Eurasian women's community
web portal is aimed at:
- bringing women’s organisations to the shared communication platform, including business communities, non-governmental & non-commercial organisations, and women-oriented organisations;
- promoting society, business and creative activities and encouraging their appreciation and support by community members;
- attracting mass media and social interest in the activities of women’s organisations
- encouraging mass media to develop a positive image of women thus contributing to a positive outlook on our country from the foreign world.
The site contains:
- a roster of women’s organisations participating;
- an information agency;
- a universal interactive event schedule;
- a feedback page of questions and answers ;
- educational events;
- polls and surveys.
Saint Petersburg holds the 137th Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly and the Forum of Women Parliamentarians. Delegation from over 150 countries visited the Tauride Palace to take part in these events. Journalists from the EWC news agency interviewed Jean Milligan, press-secretary working at the IPU communications division. This conversation was about the Swiss parliament, women in politics and the Forum of Women parliamentarians.
We managed to look behind the veil and find out how masterpieces are created. The Forum of Women Parliamentarians took place in Saint Petersburg in terms of the 137th Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly. Journalists of the Eurasian Women’s Community managed to interview delegates from 50 countries.
Women are half of the population of the world. “What is the role of women-parliamentarians in solving political, social and economic problems?” – that question was asked on the press-conference which was held in the Tauride Palace in St. Petersburg as a part of 137th IPU Assembly on October 13.
In today’s world women become the face of social business. The share of women in social entrepreneurship is one and a half times higher than in a commercial business. This is the world trend now. Women's entrepreneurship is a field of development of the social environment. On 14-18 October, St. Petersburg holds 137th IPU Assembly. Delegations from over 150 member countries arrived at the Tauride Palace. Currently, the president of IPU is a Bangladeshi parliamentarian Saber Chowdhury. He highlighted the fact, that more than 50% of speakers at this year’s Assembly are women. The IPU President explained, that Union’s one of the most essential concerns is women’s empowerment. Women hold posts in all of IPU institutions. According to IPU Assembly code, every delegation must have at least one woman as a member; otherwise, the delegation would have one less vote at the common election. Sometimes you just want to sigh and go to a significant other hoping that this person will hug, say something positive, and all troubles would disappear. That very little fragile girl sits in every ‘Iron Lady’ in spite of her age or status in society. However, little girls and teenagers need help and support more than anybody else.
