WOMEN MUST REALISE THEY CAN DO EVERYTHING
Journalists of the Eurasian Women’s Community news agency interviewed Andrea Valentina Martinez within the framework of the 137th IPU Assembly. She shared about the status of women in her country.
In Venezuela, women have much power. They may become heads of their families and are extremely respected in society. At the same time, the county still has some gender inequality problems to be solved. One of them concerns combining professional, domestic and family obligations. Andrea’s father raised her. That is why the interviewee believes that both men and women can be guardians of the family hearth.
According to the speaker, there are many women in politics in Venezuela. However, equal representation of men and women is still to be achieved. Andrea believes that any politician, irrespective of gender, must be educated and clever and must understand what is better for his or her country.
“It is important that women realise they can do everything, achieve major success in any sphere including politics. Only after they understand that they will be able to do something to their liking”, she said.
