ASI WILL JOIN THE ORGANIZATION OF THE EWF
The Second Eurasian Women's Forum will start in less than a year. Women from a number of countries will gather at one venue to discuss pressing global problems and ways to solve them. The Federation Council held the first meeting of the Organizing Committee of the Second EWF. Svetlana Chupsheva, General Director of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI), was among the participants of the meeting. She made her proposals concerning the organization of the forthcoming Forum.
According to her, the Agency for Strategic Initiatives develops several formats of the event. For example, business breakfasts, working sessions, and meetings where women will share their success stories. Svetlana Chupsheva also has a plan to hold a tea ceremony in the framework of the Year of Russia and Japan. While holding this ceremony, it is necessary to take into account all traditions and, of course, national costumes.
At the meeting, Svetlana stressed an important topic to be necessarily discussed at the Forum. The topic is the gender pay gap. In order to consider this issue in all details the ASI team is ready to invite to the Forum colleagues from Germany, Japan, the United Arab Emirates, and the USA. Those countries successfully implement projects on equalizing wages and salaries of men and women. For example, Germany has an initiative ‘Waking Up Sleeping Beauty’ establishing quotas for women in in public office and in business.
“It is very important to consider the involvement of women in economic activities during maternity leave, to see what support the state is providing for women not to lose their level of competence and qualification”, said Svetlana Chupsheva.
As she says, there are two best practices in the world. They are working remotely during childcare leave and an appropriate infrastructure that helps women work and raise children at the same time.
According to Svetlana Chupsheva, the Agency for Strategic Initiatives is ready to join the organization of the Second Eurasian Women’s Forum and support it informationally and financially. ASI will prepare a list of candidates for the speakers of the Forum.
“We are also ready to propose and form sessions on women's entrepreneurship and social entrepreneurship. There fields also have its role models, success stories and international practices”, she said.
