The Second Eurasian Women’s Forum is to take place in Saint Petersburg in September 2018. Members of the Forum’s working group regularly meet in order to discuss organisational matters and to develop topics and directions of work. After a meeting of this kind in the Federation Council, the EWC journalists interviewed Veronika Krasheninnikova, member of the RF Civic Chamber, director of the Second Eurasian Forum’s direction called Women for Peace and Security.

What does the Forum mean to you? How do you assess the role of women taking part in it?

— The Eurasian Women’s Forum is extremely interesting work; it is like a festival. Women leaders are role models for the entire global community. In fact, they take part in all those activities where men traditionally work. Lately, the number of women among leaders of counties keeps on increasing. By the way, they manage their work very effectively. Women often have double higher education. They constantly improve their qualification and learn from successful people.  Women’s wisdom and kindness stimulate their seeking constructive solutions. Women appreciate every person and stay concerned about the future of their counties.

Galina Karelova described this event as an interactive dialogue, that is, an event with a format, which is not limited to one meeting.

— Indeed, the Eurasian Women’s Forum is constant work. There are separate thematic regional and federal meetings between those Forums. We watch women opposing challenges and achieving success. We pay accurate attention to what they need to work more effectively.

During the 137th IPU Assembly, women parliamentarians discussed how to attract men to solving gender issues together with women. How would you answer this question?

— I must say, men play a significant role in the international women’s movement. For example, in any women’s demonstration in the West men usually amount to a third of all participants. It is normal. Strong and self-confident men want women to have the same traits and solve common problems together. Men understand their effort bring use to their wives, daughters and friends. In my point of view, this is a natural desire of any man.

What do you think of the mission of women?

— In addition to all traditional roles women fulfil, their mission is similar to any person’s one. It includes taking responsibility for peace, well-being and a bright future for our children.

— What advice would you give women of the world?

— Let each women find her path in life and realize herself as a professional. This is a key element of happiness. Let all women be happy!
