A new expert body has been formed on the basis of the Federation Council

The first session of the Council of the Eurasian Women’s Forum under the Federation Council took place in Moscow on December 25. Creation of a new body was preceded by large efforts of the Working Group. At its initiative, a whole series of big projects aimed at empowering women in all spheres of activity has been launched. Many of those initiatives will be developed on the Council of the EWF’s platform.

Valentina Matvienko, Chairperson of the Federation Council, shared that the idea of creating permanently acting expert advisory body was born after successful closure of the forum when the Working Group faced new global goals.

“The Council will become a unique presentation platform for exchanging experience and promotion of women’s initiatives, projects, and programmes at the international, federal, and regional levels”, mentioned the Chairperson.

Valentina Matvienko stressed that the continuation of discussion of women’s agenda is also due to goals set in the May Presidential Decree. According to her, the measures for empowering women are already developed and put into almost every national project.

The new expert body will become a place for not only informative creative discussions and development of new initiatives but also achieving concrete results.

Galina Karelova, Deputy Chairperson of the Federation Council will head the new Council. According to Valentina Matvienko, she has a huge experience and professionalism that will allow realising all the goals set and develop new creative ideas how to promote women’s agenda.
