Moscow hosted the first meeting of the Organizing Committee of the Second Eurasian Women’s Forum planned for September 20-21, 2018. Galina Karelova, Deputy Chairperson of the Federation Council, leader of the working group of the Eurasian Women's Forum, spoke about the concept and program of the forthcoming event.

According to the speaker, the preparation of the Forum is a great team work in which the members of the working group take an active part. The group’s partners are representatives of international organizations, development institutions, and the business community.

Today, the program of the event includes 39 discussion platforms. They will provide discussions in various modern formats. Two days of the Forum will include many events. In her speech, Galina Karelova singled out several main parts of the Forum’s program.

A solemn opening ceremony will be held on the first day of the event. Then the main plenary session will take place.

The second part will include central thematic sessions and discussion platforms. They will be dedicated to the empowerment of women in politics, strengthening peace and security, economy, human capital development, global and national health strategies, environmental security and the development of digital technologies.

The third part is a new one. It will be a key feature of the Second Eurasian Women's Forum. It will consist of international panel and expert sessions. According to Galina Karelova, the platforms of UNIDO and UNESCO have already been coordinated. The presentation of the report of the World Health Organization and the meeting of the BRICS Women's Business Club are also to take place in terms of the event. The team of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives also proposed to hold a summit of women diplomats of the Eurasian Economic Union within the framework of the forthcoming Forum.

In addition, the meeting of Women 20 is also planned as a part of the program. By the way, Svetlana Lukash, Russia's G20 Sherpa, Deputy Chief of Presidential Experts' Directorate, also attended the meeting of the Organizing Committee of the Second Eurasian Women's Forum. Galina Karelova is sure that by joint efforts it will be possible to organize and hold such an authoritative platform in terms of the Forum.

The speaker also reminded the audience of the APEC Women and Economy Forum in Vietnam. One of the key issues discussed was the topic of women's opportunities in technology within the framework of the 4th Industrial Revolution.

“Currently, we are preparing an APEC workshop on this topic together with our colleagues from the Ministry of Economic Development and the All-Russian Public Organization OPORA RUSSIA”, said Galina Karelova.

She paid special attention to state-private and business-dialogues in this part of the Forum’s program. Thus, in terms of the First International Congress of Women of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS Countries in Novosibirsk there was a public-private dialogue ‘Women and Economy’. The next one is to be held at the Second Eurasian Women's Forum. The business dialogues ‘Russia-France’ and ‘Russia-Kazakhstan’ are also included in the event’s program. Galina Karelova stressed the possibility of expanding the list of approved public-private and business dialogues in the future.

The fourth part of the program is open discussions and presentations of the projects of the working group of the Eurasian Women's Forum and the projects implemented for the benefit of women in Russia and in other countries. The range of their topics is very large. It includes the expansion of women's economic opportunities, the preservation of the health of women of all ages, active longevity, participation of women in digital technologies, industry, creative activities, development of territories, charity, etc.

This part also includes a foresight session organized with the support of the Skolkovo Foundation. Its participants will be able to exchange ideas and proposals concerning the future of Russia. The session’s working title is ‘Model of the Future and the Role of Women’.

A separate part of the Second Eurasian Women’s Forum will be dedicated to success stories of women. There is a plan to realize a new modern format of presentations similar to that of TED Talks as its presentations are bright, sincere and filled with energy.

At the end of the Forum, there will be the ceremony of the Eurasian Women's Forum Award ‘Public Recognition’ for women achieving success in different activities and contribution to the society’s sustainable development. This ceremony has become the Forum’s traditional part.

Galina Karelova proposed to take the presented draft concept and program as a basis for the forthcoming event. She invited all those present to move on to developing the discussion platforms. The senator reminded that by December 1 the members of the Organizing Committee could submit their proposals concerning the program of the event, as well as recommendations of speakers and moderators.
