Galina Karelova Discussed the Results of Joint Work with UNIDO Management
Galina Karelova, Deputy Chairperson of the Federation Council, and UNIDO management discussed the results of joint work in 2018 and plans for 2019
Galina Karelova, Deputy Chairperson of the Federation Council had a working meeting with management of regional office of UNIDO for Europe and Central Asia.
The parties discussed further cooperation between UNIDO and Russia within the framework of realisation of thematic project launched in 2017 and aimed at supporting women’s leadership and entrepreneurship.
“We see great potential in this direction of joint work”, mentioned Galina Karelova. The Federation Council assisted in involving many partners including government structures, public associations, and business representatives.
The senator thanked Fatou Haidara, UNIDO Managing Director, and the whole team taking active participation in preparation and conduction of special UNIDO session at the Second Eurasian Women’s Forum. According to Ms. Karelova, Fatou Haidara’s work caused a great interest among the participants of the EWF and pointed new development prospects for women’s entrepreneurship and leadership on the UNIDO platform.
Prospects of future joint work at congress exhibitions and realisation of concrete initiatives were discussed during the meeting. In particular, a special session within the framework of the main programme of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is planned. GMIS-2019 will become an important event of 2019. It will take place in Yekaterinburg in July 2019 and will be related to promotion of convergent and nature-like technologies. According to the parties, its conduction will give an additional impetus to development of international cooperation. Galina Karelova supported inclusion of section related to participation of women in industry into summit programme.
The Deputy Chairperson also invited UNIDO to participate in Women’s Role in Development of Industrial Regions women’s forum that will take part in Novokuznetsk in March 2019 and joint preparatory work for the SCO and BRICS women’s forum in Novosibirsk in 2020. The Forum is planned within the framework of Russia’s presidency in those associations.
The parties also discussed possibility of realisation of joint projects touching upon educational programmes for women entrepreneurs and development of online learning system for women including those in the sphere of development of digital skills and other competencies needed in the era of the Fourth Industrial revolution.
