Myonghee Kim: for developing women's potential

On women's ingenuity and entrepreneurial spirit

Myonghee Kim, Executive Director of Asia Pacific Women's Information Network Centre (APWINC), confirmed her participation in the Second Eurasian Women's Forum. Journalists of the Eurasian Women's Community Information Agency studied the foreign media to introduce Myonghee Kim to our readers.

Myonghee Kim focuses on the development of the digital economy, in particular, the empowerment of digital capacity of women from Southeast Asia in the virtual space. She is not only the executive director of APWINC, but also has implemented projects of the United Nations Development Programme, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, UNESCO and APEC.

Myonghee Kim is confident that modern women need to balance traditional role of mother, wife and homemaker with a full-fledged social life.

According to Myonghee Kim, the empowerment of women is an important component of ‘smart’ development of a state.

Myonghee Kim believes that women have special ingenuity and entrepreneurial spirit. She cited the example of a product created by a housewife in Korea.

Mopping takes a lot of energy. To ease her and many other housewives’ lives, a Korean woman invented a steam cleaner, set up its production and brought it to the market. The product has gained huge popularity.

The modern world with rapidly developing technologies gives women many opportunities to fulfill their potential. According to Myonghee Kim, any housewife can become an entrepreneur through her enthusiasm, experience and knowledge using modern technologies to implement her ideas.
