On the Way to Peace and Prosperity

The first International Congress of Women of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS Countries was held in Novosibirsk on July 3-4. The event was focused on the role of women in the modern society, their place in politics, economics, science, education and culture.

Galina Karelova, Deputy Chairperson of the Federation Council of Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, said that the Congress became an important step in the development of agenda of the Second Eurasian Women's Forum in February 2018.

“International women's cooperation has a huge potential, which manifests itself more and more actively recent years. The Congress in Novosibirsk showed it once again”, she said.

During the event participants from different countries of the world discussed global issues such as terrorism, violence, accessibility to education and health, employment and social security. They also suggested joint implementation of specific projects aimed at solution of those problems.

The reports on the Congress proved that women's activities are focused on good and creation. Women are committed to peace and prosperity. They think about the stability and about the future for their children.

Galina Karelova stressed that participants of the international meeting made a large number of suggestions related to joint efforts of women in science, protection of children's health, development of rehabilitation industry and women's entrepreneurship.

All the topics discussed will certainly be taken into account in the preparation of the Second Eurasian Women's Forum. By now there are nine discussion platforms covering such topics as the role of women in industry, agriculture, enterprise development, the formation of the Global Strategy for Human Health, charity, sport and etc.

Today there are various projects in the framework of these areas. Among them there are international projects. Deputy Chairperson of the Federation Council of Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation said that suggestions of the Congress will be added to the list of such projects. Galina Karelova noted the importance of holding such meetings regularly. They can contribute to creating a significant international platform working between the Eurasian Women's Forums and allow the global women's community to share experience and ideas and work together so as to develop new mechanisms to overcome current problems. According to Galina Karelova, women can contribute to the solution of humanitarian, social and charity issues and thus make our world better.
