COUNCIL OF EUROPE MAY PARTICIPATE IN EWF
On 28th of November, the Federation Council held a meeting of COE representatives with Yekaterina Lakhova, chairperson of Russian Women’s Union. The participants discussed topical issues connected with women’s agenda.
Yekaterina Lakhova reminded that Russia carried the National Strategy of Actions for Women’s Interests up to 2022 this year. The main vectors of state policy in this sphere were appointed in this document. One of the main directions is connected with efforts to prevent domestic violence, support the institution of the family, and help the poor and young families.
Marja Ruotanen, Director of Human Dignity and Equality, Directorate General of Democracy, Council of Europe, highlighted the importance of the adopted document. “Your Strategy is very huge; we are ready to share the experience that will be useful in its realisation. Particularly, we have a regulatory framework for prevention of the domestic violence”, said the speaker.
Besides, Marja said that the organisation contemplates a possibility of participating in the Second Eurasian Women’s Forum that will take place in St. Petersburg in September 2018.
