SUCCESS STORY OF THE MAIN DIPLOMAT OF ITALY
Women more and more often take leading positions on the world political scene. They inspire other women not to be afraid of setting any goals and conquering all the heights. News agency of the Eurasian Women’s Community continues to introduce the women-leaders from different countries.
Federica Mogherini, Italian diplomat, became the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy in 2014. It is interesting that she succeeded another woman Catherine Ashton, remarkable British political figure.
During her studying at Sapienza University of Rome, expressed an active civic position and took part in activities of different NGOs. For example, she stood against the racism and xenophobia as a volunteer of the Italian Entertaining and Cultural Association in 1990s. She graduated from the University in 1994 and started solving international issues on the level of NGOs first and then in Italian institutions of power.
Thanks to her work in Department of External Relations, she acquired huge experience in peaceful settlement of disputes, got skills in the sphere of international relations, and succeeded in providing the equal opportunities for citizens of her country.
During a short period when she was the Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy from February to October 2014, Federica managed to develop the ideas of peaceful settlement of disputes suggesting to work together with all European countries. When she became the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy in November 2014, Federica said that creating the conditions for a peaceful dialogue and enforcement of citizens’ rights were her main tasks. According to her, Europe is a place where people share common values, respect democracy and personal freedom, in which she believes. The politician thinks that her job implies not only maintaining the responsibilities but also something bigger. For example, a chance to strengthen the basic principles of the European society.
