The first meeting of the Organizing Committee of the Second Eurasian Women’s Forum took place in the Federation Council of the Russian Federation. The participants discussed the concept of the forthcoming event and basic parts of its program and shared their ideas and suggestions with one another. Svetlana Lukash, Russia's G20 Sherpa, member of the Organizing Committee of the Forum, told our journalists about her expectations of this event, its importance and her ideas concerning its organization.

“The Second Eurasian Women's Forum will be one of the biggest events on this subject both in Russia and around the world. In my opinion, it is very important that the discussion on women empowerment, on the role of women in the development of society, reach the international level”, she said.

Svetlana Lukash stressed the necessity to achieve maximum openness and accessibility of international participants to the Forum. It will provide the largest audience possible. At the same time, it is important that not only politicians and state figures, but also experts in various fields, representatives of the public, and other people can join this event. This will attract the attention of the whole world to the women’s agenda. Discussing and working out the most effective ways to solve global problems will be possible.

According to Svetlana Lukash, in terms of the Second Eurasian Women’s Forum it is important not only to share success stories, positive experience and useful practices, but also to discuss problems to be solved.

“For example, Russia has already done much to expand women's rights, to solve issues related to the status of women in the labor market and to resolve family policy. Nowadays in Russia efforts are focused on solving such issues as the so-called ‘glass ceiling’ limiting career growth of women, gender pay gap and other pressing problems. I believe that these topics should also be discussed at the Forum. We need to talk about our problems in order to overcome them by joint efforts”, said Svetlana Lukash.

She also proposed to hold a meeting of the Women’s Business 20 in terms of the Second Eurasian Women’s Forum.

According to Svetlana, the Forum will bring together bright, successful, purposeful and active women, who managed to make a significant contribution to the development of the women’s agenda and of our entire society. It is important for the whole world to hear them, as they can not only share their invaluable experience but also inspire other women to realize their potential and to create.
