With Love to Russia
Presentation of Karin van Mourik’s book at the Second Eurasian Women’s Forum
Karin van Mourik, winner of the Public Recognition Award 2015, presented her book The Russian Translation within the framework of the second EWF. She has been writing this book for a year. Natalya Barannikova who gave her stories a literary form became her co-author.
The Russian Translation is a collection of biographic stories and memories of Russia, with which she has bound 40 years of her life. The author is sure that the book will let the Germans look at Russia in another way. Karin hopes that her stories about living in Russia will made her fellow citizens like it. Moreover, the Russians themselves will see their country from the German point of view.
“I put my heart and soul into this book. I love Russia and want to share this feeling with all the people around”, commented Karin van Mourik.
The Russian Translation is a women’s contribution to development of international dialogue. This is also related to the fact that Natalya Barannikova, the Russian woman living in Freiburg, became Karin’s co-author.
“By working together we proved that the Russians and the Germans can work, rest, laugh, and cry together. We not just got along but also learnt to fully understand each other. That is why the book is true-to-life”, said Natalya.
Science and technology company Merck Group has supported the publication of the book. The company works in the spheres of healthcare, life science, and hi-tech materials. In 2018, the Merck celebrates its 350th anniversary and 120th anniversary of working in Russia. Their supporting of Karin’s book publication became a symbol of continuing warm relations between two countries.
