Healthy Women: Golden Age of 'Silver' Population

An open discussion on this topic will be held at the EAWF 

The first day of the second Eurasian Women's Forum, 19 September, is aimed mainly at Russian participants. It offers the launch of an exhibition, project presentations, meetings, workshops and discussions. One of the forum's sections will focus on the following topic ‘For the health of women of all ages. The golden age of 'silver' population’. Ekaterina Lakhova, a member of the Forum Organizing Committee, shared more detail about the upcoming open debate. 

Ekaterina Lakhova emphasized that one of the core principles of the 2017–2022 national strategy for women is maintaining the health of women of all ages. “We decided to focus on staying active at any age, and we will discuss issues related to the wellness of women after 50,” said the Senator.

Heads of medical centres and clinics, members of the Russian Academy of Sciences, doctors, representatives of regional healthcare ministries and NGOs will take part in the discussion. Among them is the Director of the Institute for Health Economics of the HSE Larisa Popovich; the Head of P.A. Herzen Moscow Research Institute of Reproductive Organs Oncology Nadezhda Rozhkova; Chair of Therapy and Rheumatology Department named after. E.E. Eyhvalda at the North-Western State Medical University named after I. I. Mechnikov Inna Gaidukova,and others. The event will be moderated by the Head Physician of M. E. Zhadkevich City Clinical Hospital in Moscow Alexander Myasnikov.

Participants will discuss issues related to senior women's endocrine problems, cancers and mental well-being. Experts will talk about the principles of providing geriatric care, prevention and diagnostics of various diseases, they will discuss the global and Russian experience in implementing health maintenance programmes for women after 50.

During the open debate, all participants will be able to ask experts any questions. Ekaterina Lakhova noted that the meeting would have a free and open format. The Senator expressed hope that all the topics raised during the discussion would also be discussed during the meeting of the Coordinating Council for the implementation of the National strategy for women.
