WOMEN IN LIECHTENSTEIN
More than 2,000 parliamentarians from over 150 countries took part in the 137th IPU Assembly. Journalists of the Eurasian Women’s Community talked to the secretary of Liechtenstein’s delegation and found out interesting facts about the status of women in this country.
Today, the Government of Liechtenstein actively involves women in politics and promotes them at all levels of decision-making and leadership positions. According to the interviewee, now there are active discussions regarding integration of quotas for women’s entrepreneurship into the country’s government.
Women in Liechtenstein are socially active. They are non-indifferent to problems of people around them and thus always try to help those who need their assistance. The speaker shared that Liechtenstein had women’s organisations focusing their activity on addressing problems in different fields.
Most women of Liechtenstein are well educated. Nevertheless, they aren’t always able to realize their potential. The country doesn’t have enough kindergartens, therefore women are unable to combine family and professional obligations. The Government is currently working to address the existing problem.
The interviewee believes that women can achieve much in any field of activity. The main idea is not to seek to be like men. It is to understand that women’s power is in their femininity.
